— The Town of Preeceville is moving forward with plans for a new water treatment plant, issuing a major equipment tender as work continues on the project’s engineering and design.
SaskWater recently released a request for proposals seeking suppliers for key treatment systems that will be installed as part of the Highway 9 Regional Water Supply System’s Stage 1 Preeceville Water Treatment Plant project.
The tender calls for the supply, delivery, commissioning, warranty support, maintenance, documentation and training related to the plant’s treatment equipment.
SaskWater is seeking proposals for systems including biological pre-filtration, membrane treatment and media-based pH adjustment technology.
Town administrator Lorelei Karcha said the equipment procurement is proceeding ahead of construction because of lengthy manufacturing and delivery timelines.
“The town is currently working with SaskWater to build a water treatment plant,” Karcha said.
“Right now we’re still working on the engineering, the design and stuff like that.
In the meantime, we have already done the tender for the treatment equipment that is going to be placed in the facility, as there’s long lead times to acquire that equipment.” SaskWater describes the project as part of its mandate to help communities, First Nations and industry access sustainable water solutions across Saskatchewan.
While construction is expected to begin later than first planned, Karcha said the equipment procurement is intended to keep the project moving forward and ensure critical treatment systems are available when work on the new facility begins.
Once completed, the new plant is expected to strengthen Preeceville’s water infrastructure and support future water service needs in the region.
