2 minutes read LinkedIn X Email DeepOcean via LinkedIn Rem Offshore’s second energy subsea construction vessel (ESCV) has arrived in Norway from Vietnam, where it will now undergo outfitting and completion.
REM Ocean was delivered from the hull yard at the Song Cam shipyard, Vietnam, on June 15.
The tow started from the Hai Phong area two days later, and the vessel proceeded via Singapore on its journey towards Europe.
At the Myklebust shipyard in Norway, REM Ocean will be outfitted with all major systems and mission equipment.
Once delivered in 2027, the vessel will enter an eight-year contract with DeepOcean, providing subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) services for Equinor until 2035.
The vessel is being built and will be owned by Rem Offshore, while the company developed the design through collaboration with DeepOcean, Myklebust Verft, Skipsteknisk and other suppliers.
REM Ocean will have dual-fuel engines capable of running on bio-methanol and biodiesel, along with a battery energy storage system and regenerative energy systems.
The 111.7-meter-long vessel will be equipped with an autonomous inspection drone (AID), set to accelerate the digitalization of subsea asset inspection.
It will feature Brunvoll’s thruster package, a 250-ton electric crane, two electric work-class remotely operated vehicles (WROVs) in a 350-square-metre inside hangar, and a 1,000-square-meter outside deck area, in addition to accommodation for 120 people.
The first vessel, named REM Pioneer, is scheduled for delivery this year.
Initial steel cutting for this vessel took place on July 3, 2024, with the keel laying ceremony on October 24, 2024.
