The expansion brings Gate’s total throughput capacity to 20 billion cubic metres per year, equivalent to two-thirds of the total Dutch gas market, and increases the terminal’s ability to receive and supply LNG from a broader range of global sources.

Gate Terminal receives LNG by ship, stores it temporarily in liquid form and processes it for delivery via the gas transmission network to users in the Netherlands and surrounding countries.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority is currently constructing a fourth jetty for the terminal, expected to begin small-scale ship loading and bunkering operations by the end of 2028.

A fifth jetty is under assessment by Gate, subject to sufficient market interest being confirmed.
