By David Prior | Oct 14, 2026 | Economy & Business , Energy , Featured , News & Analysis GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) posted 88% organic order growth in the second quarter of 2026, pushing its total backlog to $176 billion while generating more free cash flow in three months than it did in all of 2025.

The business operates across three interconnected segments: gas turbines for power plants, wind turbines for land and offshore installations, and grid equipment including transformers, switchgear, and control software.

Revenue from each piece of equipment is followed by decades of service contracts, giving GE Vernova a recurring income stream that most industrial competitors struggle to replicate at the same scale.

The Gas Power equipment backlog and slot reservations climbed from 100 GW to 116 GW during the quarter, with management now targeting at least 125 GW by year-end.

To meet surging demand, the company is ramping toward a 20 GW annual output pace, targeting 24 GW in 2028 and 30 GW by 2030 as utility and data center customers compete for limited production slots.

GE Vernova’s HA turbine fleet has surpassed 4 million commercial operating hours, with 130 units operating across 21 countries and 195 more already under contract.

Second-quarter revenue rose 22% to $11.1 billion, or 12% organically, while the adjusted EBITDA margin reached 11.3%, up 340 basis points organically from the prior year period.

GAAP net income came in at $0.6 billion, representing a 5.8% margin, which indicates meaningful room to grow earnings relative to the current valuation.

Electrification was a standout performer, with data center orders topping $5 billion year to date, already more than double the total recorded across all of 2025.

Management raised its 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $45.5 billion to $46.5 billion, and lifted its free cash flow target sharply to $11.5 billion to $12.5 billion, compared to its prior guidance of $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion.

GE Vernova has returned $3.9 billion to shareholders so far in 2026, surpassing the total amount returned during the entirety of 2025.
